Now you know the reason why ER-6N was being cleared off at massive discounts recently. The global replacement of the ER-6N, Z650 has been launched in India at an event today. The biggest change is bringing the streetfighter under the more acceptable ‘Z’ brand umbrella.
Z650 Engine & Details
Z650 is powered by a 649 cc 2 cylinder DOHC liquid cooled engine which is BS4 compliant. It produces (slightly lesser) 67 bhp of peak power and 65.7 Nm of max torque. The power deficit should be taken care of by the 19 kg lesser weight (than ER-6N) and Kawasaki says that it will be a lot more fuel efficient. They have also announced that the engine has been tweaked to deliver better low and mid-range performance. The motor is bolted on a tubular Trellis frame.
It comes with dual 300 mm petal rotors with four piston calipers at the front and 220 mm single petal disc at the rear. Dual-channel ABS is standard. Z650 comes with a low 785 mm seat height and weighs 185 kg kerb. It also gets slipper clutch as standard as well as a gear shift indicator light on the console.
