Days after introducing an internationally acclaimed tyre range for high performance motorcycles (report here), Michelin has now marked its entry to the lucrative scooter and smaller-capacity motorcycle bazaar. They have launched scooter and motorcycle tyres under the brand name City Pro and at a starting price of Rs 1100 (plus local taxes) they appear to be nice offerings for everyday commuters. Apart from 100-150cc scooters, these tyres are available for motorcycles from 100cc to 150cc like Pulsar 150, SZ, Discovers etc.
Michelin says that City Pro tyres have been designed for the ever demanding urban riding conditions which often leads the wheel to go through severe impacts and stresses. Made by using a combination of Michelin Overlap Technology, three reinforced plies and a layer of rubber beneath the tread makes it extremely strong, leading to reduced punctures.
A new tread pattern has also been introduced which has large circumferential grooves. This helps the tyre in delivering improved performance in wet conditions. the 10 inch scooter tyres have a maximum load bearing ability of 206 kg and a speed rating of 100 kmph. The motorcycle tyres can hold speeds upto 150 kmph.
