Something Big is Coming: KTM Teases 1290 Super Duke R

The Beast is finally up and growling. Well, not actually. We would have loved to hear the meaty, animalistic snarl of the KTM 1290 Super Duke’s V-Twin. But unfortunately, our senses had to withstand a barrage of  heavy metal.

Nevertheless, we are eagerly waiting to witness this massive beast in its full flesh. Currently, we have on offer just a short teaser video of the bike doing rounds on a racetrack. All we can get to see is the rider’s foot thudding down on the gearshift lever and his knees kissing the ground, with the heavy metal soundtrack bursting at seams in the background all the while. The official website is up alive and kicking. Not much here at the moment, but just a silhouette with a countdown timer superposed on the image. And oh, you also have the official declaration that “Something Big is Coming”The KTM 1290 Super Duke R will be unveiled on the 30th of September. You can have a look at the dedicated website here.

KTM had unveiled the prototype of the 1290 Super Duke R at the 2012 EICMA show. Slowly and steadily, the peels of mystery surrounding this Evil Naked have been unwrapped. The Stars-and-Stripes paint job went on air on the Derestricted blog, and then we had former MotoGP racer Jeremy McWilliams ride the prototype at the Goodwood Festival of Speed weeks later.
