Kawasaki ZX-10R Price Increased by 1.5 Lakh; Still a Terrific Value

Kawasaki ZX-10R price hike was expected as the company had announced it at launch. However, it still is the cheapest liter class supersport…

Those were the ending days of June when Kawasaki pulled up a big surprise – they slashed whopping 6 lakhs off the price of Ninja ZX-10R which was possible because of local assembly of the motorcycle from Semi Knocked Down parts. This meant an unrealistic price tag of just Rs 12.80 Lakhs for the liter class supersport. But Kawasaki cleared that this price slash is effective only for a limited period.

And in a latest update, they have increased the price of the motorcycle by Rs 1.50 Lakh which has taken the new price of ZX-10R to Rs 14.30 Lakh ex-showroom – still Rs 4.50 Lakh lesser than the older version of the model which was a complete import.

However, it has still remained the most affordable liter class supersport in India. It undercuts the closest rival Honda Fireblade by a significant amount. Here is how it all stands.

Kawasaki ZX-10R Price

Kawasaki ZX-10R Price Hike & Comparison with Fireblade

Model Price
2018 ZX-10R – Old Price Rs 12.80 Lakh
2018 ZX-10R – New Price Rs 14.30 Lakh
Honda Fireblade Rs 16.80 Lakh

*all prices ex-showroom Delhi

So, as you can see there still is a big difference of Rs 2.50 Lakhs between ZX-10R and the Fireblade. Price of 2018 ZX-10RR has, however, remained the same Rs 16.10 Lakh for now.

Due to the immaculate pricing, the pre-price-cut ZX-10R received tremendous response and amassed 100 odd bookings within a span of 15 days of announcement. This number (of 100 units) is higher than ZX-10R’s total sales in India so far 😀 ). Because of the unprecedented response, Kawasaki had to ask its dealerships to stop taking bookings of the model.

Now the Japs have some beautifully priced motorcycles like the new Ninja 300 ABS, ZX-10R, Z900, Z650 etc. But remember price of Ninja 300 is also for a Limited Period (details here)!
