Hyosung’s Price Hike

We have been having a lot of stuff regarding Hero Hondas for the past one month or so. So, for a change let’s go back to Hyosung. Remember the price of GT 650R and ST7? I’ll remind it to you once again because the news this time is all about that. The sportbike model GT 650R is priced at INR 4.97 lakhs for single colour variant and INR 5.13 lakhs for dual tone colour variant. Similarly, the cruiser model ST7 is priced at INR 5.96 lakhs. (All prices mentioned are ex-showroom, Mumbai).

Now we gotta hear that this price is just the introductory price and is likely to go up after selling them to the first 400 or 500 customers.  The hike is expected to be in the range of atleast 5 to 7 per cent (which accumulates to another 25,000 bucks to the minimum extent).

This price was maintained in spite of the fact that the bikes had 30 per cent duty on their base price. Moreover, this 30 per cent duty was up from its earlier duty of 10 per cent.

A senior Garware-Hyosung official was asked whether Hyosung is taking a hit on its margins and how long could Hyosung hold out before having to bump up the price? To this, the official replied that the price of the current Hyosung motorcycles was nothing but an introductory one.

The only practical solution for this problem will be to start manufacturing the entire range of Hyosung bikes in India itself, so as to avoid the excessive duty. Presently, the Hyosung bikes are assembled at Wai plant in Maharashtra.

So dear readers, if you have any thought of booking any of these bikes this is the right time to proceed. You can help yourself saving slightly higher than a quarter of lakhs!
