Hyosung GT650N & GT250R Coming to India Soon

It seems that Indian superbike segment has more reason to party now. S&T Motors, South Korean manufacturer of Hyosung Brand is planning to launch Hyosung GT650N and GT250R in India. Currently it sells Hyosung GT650R and ST7 in India through Garware Motor ltd., a wholly own subsidiary of Garware Bestretch Ltd.  Hyosung GT650N is going to become third offering by the company in India. The company is planning to launch this bike in this month (rumored date is 12th October).  The company also plans to launch Hyosung GT250R by March 2012.

Hyosung GT650N is a street (naked bike) version of Hyosung GT650R. As far as technical specifications concern, this bike will have the same specification as GT650R. It will have the same 647cc, liquid cooled, 8-valve 90° v-twin engine which generates maximum power of 72.65bhp @ 9,000 rpm and maximum torque of 60.9 Nm @ 7,250 rpm.  The major change will come in terms of price.

The bike will be launched at lower price compared to its current version GT650R which sells around Rs.5 lakh. The reduction in price is attributed to absence of fairing and stiff competition from Kawasaki Ninja 650R which sells around Rs. 4.57 lakhs ex-showroom.

The launch of Hyosung GT650N will be followed by GT250R. GT250R has 249cc, oil cooled, DOHC 8-valve, 75° V-twin engine which generates maximum power of 26.27 bhp @ 10,000 rpm and maximum torque of 21.04Nm @ 6,750 rpm. Although, the company has not mentioned the price at which it will be launched, we can expect it around Rs. 2.0–2.5 lakhs range, considering its v-twin engine. This bike will give stiff competition to Kawasaki Ninja 250R which also has parallel twin engine.

It seems that S&T motor wants to expand Hyosung brand presence in India. We may see some more launches in the year 2012. Gradually we can also see some launches in mass motorcycle or scooter segment by S&T motors. It seems that we will have more choice in every segment, in upcoming days.
