We all know that KTM has increased the displacement of the 373cc engine in the new generation models. The resultant 398cc, single cylinder, DOHC motor was first deployed on the company’s flagship 390 Duke and now it is also available on the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 – a motorcycle that we rode a few weeks back.

What that increase in capacity has done is provide the engine more tractability which means better usability inside cities. Obviously, you can not expect Classic 350-like bottom end from the firecracker of that 398cc motor, but it is much better than before.
