Honda sells more than 50,000 Bikes and Scooters on Dhanteras Day

Country’s largest scooter selling company HMSI (Honda Motor & Scooter India Ltd.) recorded 50,000+ units retail sales of scooters and motorcycles on the day of Dhanteras. This is the highest number in the company history and second highest performance in the two wheeler segment after Hero Moto Corp this year. The company has registered growth of 138% compared to last year Dhanteras when it sold 21,000 units of scooters and motorcycles. Most of company’s dealership in north and central India faced out of stock situation by late evening of Dhanteras.

YS Guleria, Vice-President (sales & marketing), HMSI said “We sold more than double of the 21,000 bikes and scooters delivered last year. Customer sentiment was terrific and, in fact, if we had more stocks, out tally would have been higher this time around,” he added. HMSI ran out of its flagship Activa scooter and the newly launched Dream Yuga bike at many of its dealerships on Sunday.”

This year most of the two wheeler manufacturers have reported better Dhanteras sales compared to last year. Being an auspicious day, people wish to take delivery on the day of Dhanteras. The festive season has helped many two wheeler manufacturers to clear its dealership stock. However, the upcoming months will clear the growth picture which has tapered from last few months.
