Honda Rebel 500 Recalled in India – Here’s Why

The brand has voluntarily recalled 96 units of the bike manufactured between April 2025 and August 2025 in the Indian market

Honda 2-Wheelers India has notified a voluntary recall campaign for the Rebel 500 in the country. The company stated that 96 units of the bike manufactured between April 2025 and August 2025 will be recalled due to faulty handle-lock screw. The recall campaign will commence in the first week of November 2026 at authorized Honda BigWing dealerships. This campaign is being undertaken by the brand’s Indian arm as part of a wider global recall programme initiated by Honda for certain units of the Rebel 500 motorcycle.

“Honda has identified that the handle-lock fixing screw on the affected motorcycles may not have been tightened to specification during assembly. In certain circumstances, the screw may loosen, potentially affecting steering movement,” read the official statement from Honda. The dealers will contact affected customers via phone, email or SMS to schedule the replacement.

“As of September 30, 2026, no related incidents have been reported in India. As a precautionary measure, HMSI will replace the handle-lock screw on all affected motorcycles free of charge, irrespective of their warranty status,” further read Honda’s statement. The company advised the affected customers to contact their nearest authorized Honda BigWing dealership to schedule an appointment.
