HMSI to expand its R&D facility in India

Country’s largest scooter manufacturing company HMSI (Honda Motor Scooter India Pvt. Ltd) is all set to expand its R&D (Research & Development) facility in India as reported by Economic Times. The company will move its R&D facility from current location of Gurgaon to its Manesar plant. HMSI is also planning to double the number of engineers at its upcoming Manesar R&D facility.  The suggested move will help the company to develop the new and face lifted version in more faster and cost efficient manner.

Currently, the R&D centre run under the company name called Honda R&D India Private Limited (HRID) which is currently working at IFFCO chowk in Gurgaon. The company will shift it to an integrated R&D set up in Manesar plant. The company is currently building a new building for the same which will become operational in next three to six months time. The company is expected to invest 100 crores for this set up and it is also aiming to duble the number of engineers to 200-300. The new set up will help HMSI to style and design, prototype, development, testing and validation and component development with vendor to offer products faster at lower cost.

HMSI’s move clearly suggests that India is going to play vital role in the R&D department also. The company is focusing in making India as its center for every activity since the growth potential is huge. This is clear indication that India is going to become R&D hub for many international players around the globe.
