It is very well known that Royal Enfield is preparing an all new Himalayan for our market. The already impressive ADV is about to get much better and after multiple spyshots, it has been snapped in its near-production form, for the first time.
First up, it looks very Himalayan-like and clearly Royal Enfield has ensured that it is easily identifiable as a Himalayan – since the current model has managed to establish itself, after the initial quality hiccups. However, the 450 will be bigger in size and will also have a well-sculpted, flowing fuel tank design. And interestingly, the company appears to have managed to create those tank extensions out of metal. These are generally plastic on most motorcycles. It could offer more space for fuel as well.
The upcoming Himalayan will debut Royal Enfield’s new 450 platform and will come with an all-new frame and a fresh new, surprisingly higher-spec engine. The motor is touted to produce 40 PS of power and 45-50 Nm of torque which is in the ballpark of KTMs! Chances are that the company will stick to its formula of long-stroke engines and this will also offer plenty of low-down power.
In place of the regular telescopics on the current model, the Himalayan 450 will come with upside down front forks with high travel. As we have been witnessing on a lot of motorcycles, the Himalayan is also going full digital as we can see that single-pod instrument cluster. Expect mobile connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation, apart from other features.
The Himalayan 450 will be launched around 1st November which is when its media rides are also planned. There has been a lot of interest in the motorcycle as it is expected to offer a lot more over the current already-very-potent Himalayan 411…
