The filing of design patent hints at the launch of a possible rugged ADV-styled scooter in the Xoom 125 range in the Indian market
Hero MotoCorp has filed the design patent for a rugged ADV-styled scooter in the Indian market. It is likely to be the production-ready version of the Xoom 125 Adventure, which was showcased as a concept for the first time at the EICMA 2024. Unlike the regular model, it will be sold via the Premia dedicated network of premium dealerships in India. Though there is no word on launch timeline, we expect Hero Xoom 125 Adventure to go on sale within the FY27 in our country, as confirmed earlier by Harshavardhan Chitale – CEO of Hero MotoCorp.
The leaked design patent shows that the Xoom 125 Adventure is almost similar to the concept version. It appears to be heavily inspired by the off-road motorcycles of Dakar Rally. Based on the standard Xoom 125, it boasts of multiple add-ons including the crash guard to protect the apron area and side body. The front fender has been replaced by a beak.
Hero had showcased the Xoom 125 Adventure concept in the Dakar Rally livery which features White as the basic body paint with contrasting Red, Black and Grey highlights. We can also see numberings on the body, identical to racing bikes. Earlier, Hero Xpulse 200 Pro was also presented in a similar livery, inspired by the Dakar Rally special models.
The patent pics also show the scooter riding on 14-inch alloy wheels and knobby tyres. It gets fog lights with cornering function, which is only on offer with the Xoom 110 in Hero’s scooter portfolio in India. The Xoom 125 Adventure packs additional side claddings for a sportier appearance. We can also spot knuckle guards in the design patent which are missing in the stock version of the scooter.
At the heart, the Xoom 125 Adventure will house the same 124cc single-cylinder air-cooled petrol engine which generates max power of 9.8 bhp and peak torque of 10.4 Nm. The ADV-styled scooter, being the flagship model in Xoom 125 line-up, will come with multiple bells and whistles in the form of all-LED lighting, digital instrument cluster, Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation.
Apart from the Xoom 125 Adventure, Hero MotoCorp had also showcased the Xoom 160 Adventure concept at the EICMA 2024. The company might unveil the final production version of both these rugged scooters at the EICMA 2026 while they finally go on sale in the subsequent months in the Indian market. Both these ADV-styled scooters could become great value additions to Hero’s scooter portfolio.
