The Ubex, showcased at the EICMA 2025, is likely to go on sale by the end of 2026 in the Indian market
Hero MotoCorp showcased two electric bike concepts at the EICMA 2025 in the form of the Ubex and Project VxZ. Last month, the company filed a design patent for the VxZ electric motorcycle in India. Now, the design patent for the Ubex concept has been filed in apparently production-ready form. Sitting on a modular chassis, the neo-naked hypermoto is built for all-terrain riding. The launch timeline is not known yet as public testing of Hero Vida Ubex has not commenced, but we expect it to hit the roads by late 2026 or early 2027.
The ‘Ubex’ term has been coined from ‘Urbex’ which stands for urban exploration. The design patent reveals an aggressive styling which is backed by a sporty streetfighter stance. The front fascia flaunts a projector headlamp with LED DRLs placed on top and bottom of it. The inclusion of LED turn indicators sum up the overall front profile of the electric bike.
It is pretty evident from the patent images that it is a production-spec model as we can clearly notice RSU telescopic front forks in place of the USD units seen on the concept. Though wheels and overall styling is similar to the concept version showcased at the EICMA 2025. The upright handlebar, muscular fuel tank sans any fuel and side body panels have been carried over.
Hero Vida Ubex features a single-piece seat with traditional footpeg positioning. It also boasts of a split rear grab rail, tyre hugger and trellis type swingarm. Some of the notable features onboard the electric bike could include front and rear disc brakes, mid-mounted motor, TFT instrument cluster, turn-by-turn navigation etc. among others.
The surprise element revealed in the design patent is the massive battery pack which extends till the bottom. It indicates that the Hero Vida Ubex could offer higher range on a single charge. Though the exact battery capacity and range details are not made public, the electric motorcycle is likely to offer around 200-220 km on a full charge.
Hero Vida Ubex will directly lock horns with Royal Enfield Flying Flea S6 which is scheduled to launch in India by the end of 2026. The electric motorcycle segment is still in its early stages and there are not many choices for the buyers to consider. Hence, it will be a great opportunity for Hero to foray into this segment.
