Hero MotoCorp Jan 2026 Sales: 5.58 Lakh Units Sold, 26% YoY Growth

While the Xoom and Destini received positive response in the scooter segment, the motorcycle portfolio witnessed strong traction for Xtreme and Glamour X

Hero MotoCorp has posted YoY growth of 26 percent with sales of 557,871 units in January 2026 as compared to 442,873 units during the same month last year. The brand stated in an official statement that it had maintained its position as the world’s biggest two-wheeler brand for 25 straight years. As per the data available on Vahan portal, it had 491,986 registrations last month. The Jaipur-based two-wheeler brand claimed that growing demand for models like Xoom and Destini in the scooter segment contributed to the overall growth in Jan 2026.

The motorcycle portfolio was spearheaded by newly-launched models such as Xtreme and Glamour X. As for the export business, it grew by 24 percent on YoY basis in Jan 2026 with 37,663 made-in-India units being shipped to several global markets. The brand had exported 30,495 units during the same period last year. Without naming any specific model, Hero stated that there was strong consumer response for the premium portfolio.

As for the EV arm Vida, it continued to grow and improve its market share with sales of 13,000 units in Jan 2026. It posted a MoM retail growth of 21 percent as 10,701 units were sold in the previous month (Dec 2025). Hero said that this growth was fuelled by sustained demand for Vida VX2 which was ably supported by strong retail footprint and a healthy pipeline of bookings across key markets.

Meanwhile, Hero MotoSports Team Rally participated in the 48th edition of Dakar Rally 2026 last month with a double top 10 finish. It marked a historic milestone in the global rally-raid competition. Recently, Hero had silently increased the prices of its entry-level commuter motorcycles such as Passion Plus, Splendor Plus and HF Deluxe in the country.

Hero MotoCorp is slated to launch multiple new scooters and motorcycles this year in the Indian market. While the Xpulse 210 Dakar Edition is likely to go on sale by March 2026 in India, the brand is expected to foray into the electric motorcycle segment with the launch of the VxZ during the festive season of Diwali, i.e., around Oct-Nov 2026.

Recently, it had filed design patent for the upcoming VxZ electric motorcycle in India. Co-developed with the US-based Zero motorcycles, the VxZ concept was showcased at the EICMA 2025. Presently, several leading auto brands such as Royal Enfield, Hero and TVS are working on electric motorcycles as this segment is still in nascent stages with only a handful of mainstream models.
