India’s largest two wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp is all set to mark it’s presence in the International business by designing and developing future products taking global market requirements into account. While the Hero “Leap” the concept scooter which was unveiled in the Auto Expo 2012 is scheduled for an international launch once in production; a few higher officials working inside the company also said that Hero MotoCorp is also working on a few models with international standards to expand its wings over the other territories.
Mr.Anil Dua, Senior Vice-President (Sales & Marketing, Hero MotoCorp) said, “The Leap is not only targeted at Indian customers in mind but it’s for the Global market. In fact all the future product development plans would be fed by Indian as well as global market requirements and that is why we do not term it “Export Operations” but call it our International business. Our idea is not to see what we have and what can be extended from us but to address specifically what the market requires. All future products developed by Hero MotoCorp will be based on this principle”. The company also has identified 30 countries for its international business operations and is on course to enter 8-10 new markets in the whole of Africa and Latin America soon. With these said the company is looking for a sales figure of One Million units from its international presence by 2016-17.
In continuation to that, the Managing Director and Chief Officer of Hero MotoCorp Pawan Munjal said that upon gaining the necessary volumes the company would set-up assembly plants in Columbia, Bangladesh, Nigeria and Kenya. Pawan Munjal also added “I am looking at setting up hubs to grow Hero MotoCorp’s footprint globally. The company is looking at setting up assembling plants in Kenya, Brazil, Nigeria and Coulmbia over time to meet the current demands in Africa and Latin America”
