Hero Mavrick 440 is not likely to launch anytime soon in India as we believe the model shown in images could only be for export purposes
Hero Mavrick 440 was phased out from the Indian market by nearly a year and half back in early 2025 due to poor sales volumes. It was the brand’s flagship motorcycle in the country while based on the Harley-Davidson X440. However, it missed out on multiple premium features such as USD front forks and TFT instrument cluster. Now, the Mavrick 440 has been spotted once again, albeit with these missing features. It is not likely to launch anytime soon in India as we believe the model could only be for export purposes.
The made-in-India Mavrick 440 is shipped to various global markets and sold in the form of the Hunk 440. Now, as the conventional telescopic forks have been replaced with more premium and upmarket USD units and the LCD instrument cluster has gone for a toss in favour of an upscale TFT unit, we believe the roadster to also carry rides modes, traction control and ride-by-wire throttle.
Mechanically, the Mavrick is expected to remain the same with the 440cc single-cylinder air/oil-cooled engine at the helm. It develops max power of 27 bhp and peak torque of 36 Nm while paired to a 6-speed gearbox. Before discontinuation from the local market in India, Hero Mavrick 440 was retailed in three trims in a price range of Rs 1.99-2.24 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
It is not the first time that the Mavrick 440 has been captured on camera with premium features as in Oct 2025 too, it was clicked with these bells and whistles in a new matte grey colour with bronze/copper engine cover. These two major feature updates on the bike resemble the model showcased at the EICMA 2024 in Milan, Italy, which was christened as Hunk 440.
Hero Mavrick 440 was launched in February 2024 and it lasted for around 18 months before the brand finally pulled the plug. The company had deliberately priced it lower than the X440 by axing multiple premium features from the bike. However, this strategy of omitting premium features such as TFT dash, USD forks and matte finish among others backfired for the brand and the Mavrick 440 barely found any takers.
Sitting on a trellis frame, the Hero Mavrick 440 gets disc brakes at both the ends along with a dual-channel ABS. It rides on 17-inch spoke wheels for the base trim while the mid and top grades boast of 17-inch alloys. It is still highly unlikely that the Mavrick 440 will make a comeback in the Indian market in the FY27 as Hero is working on the Xpulse 421 for the Indian market.
