Hero MotoCorp managed to surprise everyone days before the Auto Expo by showcasing the showstopper HX250R quarter litre rocket. ‘Rocket’ because of the claimed figures!
In August, we quoted Zigwheels when they claimed that HX250R will be launched by November. We were skeptical! In an interesting update, one of our source has told us that HX250R may, indeed, be launched by November ie just the next month. In addition to that, he has also shared a possible price point the bike may be placed at.
He tells us that HX250R may be priced at about Rs 1.8 Lakhs which, we believe is the on road price which is being talked about. And let us, yet again, tell you that we are still a little doubtful about this speculative news bit and hence not very confident!
In terms of specs, HX250R gets a single cylinder, liquid cooled 249cc engine which produces 31PS of segment leading power and 26Nm of very impressive peak torque. It is also claimed to reach 60 kmph from stand still in just 2.7 sec. Stopping the bike would be a three caliper 300 mm disc at the front and a 200 mm disc in the rear. The ECU will have dual mapping, one focused toward power and another towards performance while the transmission will see a six speed constant mesh gearbox.
Yes, things seem to be extremely impressive on the spec front at least on paper and we would be able to know more only when it is released and we ride it. At this price point, Hero would gun CBR250R out of the game, for sure, if Honda doesn’t act quick in bringing the CBR300R to India.
We are still trying to dig deeper and if we have any concrete info, we will update it here.. Keep tuned
