Here is the Official Reason Why Himalayan Will NOT Be Sold in Delhi

As we said, everybody was surprised when Royal Enfield announced prices of Himalayan, talked about all the major cities, but missed Delhi! We immediately tried to connect with the officials regarding the same. We were informed by the PR team that there are certain pollution emission related issues (Himalayan is BS3 certified) that have prevented the motorcycle from being available in the national capital.

And moments later, the company has shot in an official announcement confirming that Himalayan will NOT be sold in Delhi for now. They say that an NGT decision at the last minute has prevented the company from making it available in the state of Delhi. However, no further clarifications on this were given.

They however, said that they, along with other manufacturers, are working with the authorities to resolve the matter.

This is what the official statement read…

“The Royal Enfield Himalayan has been registered across all states in India and will be available across the country in a phased manner. In Delhi as of now the Himalayan is not being registered as the NGT decision came in last minute. It is available in NCR for test rides and bookings We are working with the authorities to resolve this situation along with several other manufacturers who are facing the same issue”

According to unconfirmed words, there may be a plea by NGT to limit BS3 certified motorcycles from selling in the state from April. However, if this is true (which we are very sceptical about!), we will only have a handful of motorcycles to be sold in Delhi. Let us wait for sometime to see how things pan out in the future but for now if you are in Delhi, you will not be able to buy the most modern and the only purpose built mid-size Royal Enfield adventure tourer…
