Harley Davidson has silently launched the 2016 Sportster 1200 Custom in India at Rs 8.90 lakhs ex-showroom, Delhi. Aiming to be a perfect mix of the agility of a Sportster and attitude of a cruiser, the bike has a commanding presence. Brought to India as a Completely Knocked Down (CKD) unit, the 1200 Custom will be assembled at Harley’s facility in Haryana.
Displacing 1,202 cc, the air cooled Evolution engine produces 96 Nm of peak torque at 3,500 rpm. The ground is 105 mm and the seat height is a modest 725 mm. The bike sports a narrow frame for improved agility and gets fat 130 section tyres at the front with 16 inch wheels.
Tuned to perform in typical Indian riding conditions, the Sportster 1200 Custom is the company’s 8th motorcycle to be assembled in India and becomes the 13th product in the line-up. The engine gets black powder coating with chrome treatment covers, steel laced wheels, chrome head lamp bucket, forward mounted rider foot controls, integrated electrical system with trip switch and start switch.
The instrumentation console has been moved to the handle bar which includes an electronic speedometer with odometer, time of day clock on odometer, dual tripmeter, low fuel warning light, low oil pressure light, engine diagnostics readout, LED indicator lights, gear indicator.
The Sportster 1200 Custom will be available at all Harley Davidson dealerships across the country.
