Harley-Davidson Fat Boy Gray Ghost Edition Breaks Cover

The Gray Ghost Edition is a tribute to the original Fat Boy motorcycle of 1990, which Arnold Schwarzenegger rode in Terminator 2: Judgment Day.

Harley-Davidson has unveiled the Fat Boy Gray Ghost Edition, which will be limited to only 1990 units worldwide. This limited-edition model has been rolled out to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the original Fat Boy motorcycle which became a global sensation due to its appearance in Terminator 2: Judgment Day. It has been presented in a unique finish while each of the 1990 units will be sold with a numbered tank console badge. Harley-Davidson Fat Boy Gray Ghost Edition is priced at $25,399 (Around Rs 22 lakh).

The Fat Boy Gray Ghost is the fifth model in the American brand’s Icons Motorcycle Collection. It flaunts reflection finish on the fuel tank and fenders which is created by the use of physical vapor deposition (PVD) process, aka thin film coating. Unlike the conventional chrome, it has greater resistance for corrosion.

“The original Fat Boy model took the look, proportions, and silhouette of a 1949 Hydra-Glide and completely modernized it for a new generation of riders. Those riders appreciated our post-war design DNA but also found themselves drawn to the clean simplicity of contemporary industrial design,” explains Brad Richards, Harley-Davidson Vice President of Design and Creative Director, Motorcycles.

The frame is finished in a bright silver powder coat, which is flanked by the chrome side covers. Other notable design elements include yellow accents around the engine, round air cleaner, black leather tank strap, Lakester cast aluminum wheels, Michelin Scorcher 11 tires and a leather seat valance. The Fat Boy Gray Ghost Edition will also boast of the Icons Collection medallion on the rear fender.

The features, hardware and cycle parts have also been carried over from the regular Fat Boy such as Multi ride modes (Road, Rain & Sport), Cornering Anti-lock Braking System, Cornering Traction Control System, Cornering Drag Torque Slip Control and Tire Pressure Monitoring System. The limited-edition model is packed with all-LED lighting, including headlamp, turn indicators and tail-lamp.

Mechanically, Harley-Davidson Fat Boy Gray Ghost Edition is unchanged as it carries the same as the standard bike. Powered by the 1923 cc V-twin Milwaukee-Eight 117 Custom engine, it has maximum power of 100.5 bhp at and peak torque of 171 Nm. Since only 1990 units will be sold globally, it seems unlikely to hit the Indian shores anytime soon.
