So, here is the next big thing for all you adventure souls! At EICMA Italian Benelli, now owned by the Qian Jiang group from China, has unveiled a new adventure tourer, the Trek 502. The smaller Trek is possibly the most interesting bike to be revealed at the motorcycling extravaganza.
The Trek 502 is powered by an in-line liquid cooled 499.6 cc twin cylinder engine which produces 47.6 PS of maximum power at 8,500 rpm and a very interesting peak torque of 45 Nm at 4,500 rpm. Sending the output to the rear wheel is a six speed gearbox. To help in touring it sports a 20 litre fuel tank (the TNT 600GT gets a 27 liter capacity).
The silhouette of the bike will remind you of the typical BMW adventure tourers. The LED head lights though have a love it or hate it kind of a look. The bike gets twin disc upfront and a single disc at the rear with ABS as standard. The suspension is overlooked by upside down forks at the front and single monoshock at the rear. The Trek 502 weighs 210 kilos and has a handsome 230 mm ground clearance for those tough terrains.
As we said, Trek 502 is possibly one of the most interesting motorcycle unveiling at EICMA and if and when launched in India at competitive prices, it will be the goto bike for all adventure tourers. Lets hope DSK Benelli has some announcement to make soon…
