OFFICIAL: Faired Suzuki Gixxer SF Launch on April 7

Yes, the faired Gixxer is finally launching this April. In an official invitation to the media, Suzuki has rolled out carpets for the entry of their faired Gixxer SF on April 7, 2015 in Delhi, also confirming its official name!

Quite aptly, Suzuki is calling the new Gixxer SF as a street sport bike and not as an outright racing machine or a tourer. We are big fans of the naked Gixxer and if that is the benchmark, the Gixxer SF is expected to attract a wider audience because of its sportier looks.

The new faired Gixxer will definitely be housing the same 154.9 cc engine, but we expect a wee bit of tweaks to ensure the added weight (of the fairing) doesn’t make it slower than its own naked sibling. We also wish that Suzuki lends the SF with (optional) rear disc brakes, one thing which we have not noticed in any of the spy pics so far…

Re-igniting the flame in the premium 150 cc segment, the Gixxer was instrumental in Suzuki’s revival plans for its motorcycle business in India and currently gives the FZ range a run for their money.

Gixxer SF will compete against Fazer, upcoming Pulsar AS150 and may also snatch up a few units from the R15. Let us hope the SF is only a wee bit costlier than the naked version which will make it a fantastic preposition in the sportier 150cc segment.
