Ducati India, after teasing the XDiavel in its social media account for a long time, has launched the motorcycle for Rs 15.87 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). This belt drive sports cruiser has been the star of the range for the Italian bike maker ever since it was unveiled at EICMA last year. Called as the perfect example of ‘low speed excitement’, the bike amalgamates the pleasure of riding at low cruising speeds with the adrenaline induced sessions so typical with the Ducati brand name.
Black being the predominant theme of the bike, the style factor has been given paramount importance. But hey, that has not come at the price of technology! More on the tech part later. The wide handlebar and forward set footpegs will make you feel that you are riding a cruiser but its corner-carving ability (thanks to its capability to record a 40 degree lean angle), is claimed to be its surprise package.
The Ducati XDiavel is powered by a famed Testastretta DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing) 1262 mill. The compression ratio stands at 13:1 while the maximum power stands at 151.5 bhp at 9,500 rpm. Torque you ask? Well, the magical number stands at 128.9 Nm at 5,000 rpm. The slipper and self-servo clutch with hydraulic controls, is mated with a 6 speed gearbox.
Chassis and figures:
The bike weighs 220 kilos dry while the wet weight stands at 247 kg. The wheelbase stands at 1,615 mm and fuel tank can store 18 litre of petrol. The seat height is a highly accessible 755 mm. Braking duties are administered by twin 320 mm semi-floating discs with radial Brembo monobloc four pot M4-32 callipers in the front. The rear setup includes a single 265 mm two piston calliper. Cornering ABS by Bosch is a standard feature.
Oh yes, the XDiavel is loaded to the brim. It gets riding modes, Ducati safety pack (which includes Bosch’s cornering ABS and Ducati Traction Control), Ducati Power Launch, cruise control. Hands free, all-LED lighting and backlit handle bar switches.
Ducati has also introduced the XDiavel S in gloss black (XDiavel is in matt black) which, apart from better brakes, gains an infotainment system, Bluetooth module, premium seat and machine aluminium mirrors. This one carries a price of Rs 18.47 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
