A couple of days back, we shared a speculative story on two new 250ccs from Hyosung which are expected to launch this year and here it comes from the horse’s mouth! Shivapada Ray, COO of DSK Motowheels, the official partner of Hyosung in India, has confirmed to Autocar, that the company will be launching the GD250N as well as the GD250R in India within this year.
The GD250N made its Indian debut last year at the Auto Expo and is a naked streetfighter motorcycle which, unlike the current Hyosung products, is a single cylinder more modern product and will be the cheapest offering from the company. It churns out 28 bhp of peak power and an impressive 25Nm of maximum torque. The guys who have ridden it exclaim that it is a big departure over the current traditional Hyosung offerings so far!
On the other hand, the GD250R is a recent addition and has never been shown in India till now. It is a full-faired aggressive looking sports version of the ‘N’ and carries the same engine.
Both these motorcycles are expected to be local assemblies and if DSK Hyosung can price them sensibly, they may be looking for some interesting sales numbers for these twins, specially when the HX250R has reportedly been delayed for next year!
There is a bigger twin cylinder 400cc version of GD400 also under works and with expected power output of around 40PS, it may turn out to be a worthy KTM Duke and RC390 rival! (more details)
Hyosung is aggressively planning to revamp their motorcycle portfolio for the world and we may see bigger GV300, new 650s in the near future.
