Decal & Badge-Less Honda CBR650F Caught at BIC; Launch in July-Aug

For some real long months, Honda has been making noise only in the basic commuter segment and/or scooters, leaving the enthusiasts wanting for more from this Jap! The last reasonably powerful motorcycle they launched was the Unicorn 160, which is again a thorough-bred…well.. ‘Uncle’s bikes’! But within a couple of months, the company is all set to introduce their mid sized full-faired sportsbike – CBR650F in India.

As an update, a prototype of this 87 PS monster was recently snapped lapping up the Buddh International Circuit by a Motorbeam.com reader. Against the tentative claim of this coming from an ad/promo shoot, we have our reservations. This CBR650F carries yellow number plates and doesn’t have an iota of any sticker! There is no ‘Honda’ moniker on the tank and the fairing decals are also missing.

So, this still possibly seems to be a test unit and Honda may be trying to make the motorcycle India-specific and India-ready. In a recently conducted round-table media conference, Honda announced that their new flagship (excluding CBUs) will be sold in 20 top priority cities initially and will follow a new premium distribution format (more details).

The production of this CKD will start in two months from now and a launch around July or August can be expected, finally!

CBR650F is a more road-going motorcycle and a lot more relaxed than Honda’s supersport 600 RRs! Pricing, Honda says will be competitive and we will await what ‘competitive’ will be in the company’s dictionary!
