The naked roadster is the second BMW model to use the 420cc engine platform after the F 450 GS which went on sale earlier this year in India
BMW F 450 R, the naked streetfighter motorcycle, has made its global debut. It is the second BMW model to use the 420cc engine platform after the F 450 GS which went on sale earlier this year in the Indian market. The F 450 R is also expected to debut in India with local production taking place at the TVS factory in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Though the German brand has not announced any specific launch timeline but we are hopeful that the naked motorcycle will hit the Indian roads in the first half of 2027.
First things first, BMW F 450 R takes styling cues from the high-performance S 1000 R naked bike with distinct elements such as high-positioned tapered aluminum handlebar, 14-liter fuel tank, split-seat setup, stainless-steel underfloor exhaust system, and LED headlight with bracket-shaped LED DRLs. It has been introduced in four trim levels namely Base, Exclusive, M Sport, and M Sport with Innovation Package.
The F 450 R sits on a tubular steel space frame which is suspended by 43 mm USD front forks and monoshock rear absorber with adjustable spring preload and rebound damping. The suspension setup is supplied by KYB. The stopping power comes from Brembo single-disc brake at front and ByBre single-disc brake at the rear. Riding on 17-inch cast aluminum wheels, the naked motorcycles is fitted with 110/70 section front and 150/60 section rear tyres.

Some of the notable features onboard the F 450 R are Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) with Shift Assistant Pro, ABS Pro, Dynamic Brake Control (DBC), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), and engine drag torque control (MSR). It comes with three ride modes namely Rain, Road and Dynamic. The standard saddle height is pegged at 790 mm. However, it can be increased by 20 mm and decreased by 15 mm through customization with Original BMW Motorrad Accessories.
BMW F 450 R uses the same 6.5-inch TFT screen as the F 450 GS with ‘Pure Ride Screen’ and ‘Sport Screen’ displays. The riders can also make phone calls, listen to music, and navigate conveniently while riding. In addition, the instrument cluster gives detailed information on DTC, braking force, and lean angle, alongside a lap timer function. Last but not the least, all-LED lighting, heated grips and USB-C charging port are a part of standard feature list.

At the heart, BMW F 450 R has the same 420cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled petrol engine which generates max power of 47 bhp at 8,750 rpm and peak torque of 43 Nm at 6,750 rpm. The brand claims that 80 percent of the available torque is already on tap at 3,000 rpm. The engine has been specifically tuned for road riding character of the F 450 R as it is linked to a 6-speed transmission.
