There is a fringe electric vehicle player in the market – BGauss, that has been trying to penetrate the market. In a fresh new salvo, BGauss has introduced a new electric scooter in the market which is called RUV350.
RUV here stands for ‘Rider Utility Vehicle‘ which is nothing more than a marketing attempt to gain something out of the current ‘utility vehicle’ craze of Indians. However, there are a few things that stand out in the scooter.
In terms of basics, the RUV350 is powered by a 3.5 KW electric motor that is good for a peak torque of 165 Nm. The scooter comes with a 3 KWH battery pack and has claimed highest true range of 120 km. It takes over 5 hours to charge the battery.
The stand-out features are those big motorcycle-like 16 inch alloy wheels – that will definitely be more comfortable on our kind of roads. BGauss also tells us that the suspension travel is larger and it has also thrown in Nitrox shock absorbers (we have already seen on Bajajs and other motorcycles) for a more cushioned ride.

The overall styling of the RUV resembles step-thrus that are highly popular in Thailand and other markets. They offer some practicality aspects of scooters and the comfort and poise of motorcycles. One glance at the RUV and it sure looks slightly different than the current crop of electric scooters in the market.
The RUV comes with a metal body and there is a fairly big luggage space to carry a helmet. There is a 5 inch TFT display that can be connected to your phone. It has features like call notifications, turn by turn navigation, distance to empty, etc. Other features in the scooter include hill hold, FallSense, cruise control, reverse mode and regenerative braking.

As you can see, the RUV 350 is offered in three variants. The EX variants come with a claimed true range of 90 km and all the trims have the same claimed top speed of 75 kph.
The RUV is BGauss’ best-ever attempt in this sphere and the electric scooter will be available across 120 company dealers from July onwards. There are some introductory benefits also being thrown by the manufacturer to attract sales.
