Triumph Motorcycles continues its aggressive intent in the Indian two-wheeler market and have launched the new Tiger XR at Rs 10.50 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi. This is the base model of the new Tiger range which was unleashed in India back in March 2015. Back then, the company also confirmed this XR and here it is, available in your neighborhood Triumph dealership.
Tiger XR gets similar styling as the Tiger XRx and XCx. The difference from its previous generation includes a new radiator shroud and tank side panels. The bike has been designed such that the hot air from the engine gets dissipated away from the rider’s leg. XR gets power sockets near the ignition switch and aluminium sump guard and a huge 19 litre fuel tank.
The engine is the same as that of the new Tigers. The 800 cc liquid cooled three cylinder mill produces 95 PS of maximum power at 9,250 rpm and 79 Nm of peak torque at 7,850 rpm. The bike claims to have more than adequate mid-range power with stronger higher revs which redline at 10,000 rpm. The gearbox has gained parts from Daytona’s box to deliver more precise shifts.
This Tiger XR however misses out on rider modes available in the higher models. On the other hand, it continues with ride by wire system, switchable ABS, traction control and trip computer. The suspension setup is by Showa and the discs are by Nissin. Triumph is offering Tiger XR with a two year factory warranty with unlimited mileage!
