Bajaj Boxer 150 Debuts Next Month & Pulsar to get an Upgrade in September

The much awaited Bajaj Boxer 150 which was initially referred to as the ‘Bharat Bike’ is likely to hit the roads next month.  This new bike would play an important role in whooping up the sales figure of Bajaj Auto in the coming years.

The bike already saw a soft launch in the Indian states of Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. This bike will be equipped with a 150cc engine and the primarily targeted for its exclusive rural customers.  Bajaj has focused a lot on performance as the most critical factor in designing this bike. This bike makes the Boxer 150 robust on all parameters which include the engine, suspension and everything to the tyres, seat, chassis and even the headlamp. The Bajaj Boxer 150 is expected by the company to follow the success of Discover 150 and the Discover 150 and the 125cc version of the same bike which made its debut in April.

According to Business Line, “Today, of total Discover sales, the 100cc accounts for 50 per cent with the 125 and 150 taking up the balance. As more commuters move away from the 100cc, it will help Bajaj Auto secure a strong position in the commuter category vis-a-vis Hero Honda.”

The price at which this bike will be tagged in gonna be one of the major reasons for its success in India market. Expect it to be launched with a tag price of around INR 40,000.

“It is like a tank on two wheels which will create a new category in this product segment,” Mr Bajaj said commenting on the Boxer 150.

The yet to be launched Bajaj Boxer 150 will aid the company to a greater extent in ramping up the new target of attaining 5 million units by October this month. (It is to be noted that this figure includes the 3 wheelers too in its count).

Mr Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director, Bajaj Auto, told Business Line that a large chunk of the additional volumes would be generated from the 150cc Boxer which debuts next month

The company is pretty sure that the sales of its top selling models – Pulsar and Discover will see a Northward trend in the coming days.

Mr Bajaj said the goal of five million units annually marked a remarkable turnaround for a company which had done only 2.2 million units in 2008-09.

He also said, “Our strategy was to create the best opposite to the 100 which was the 150. This huge contrast in the commuter segment worked wonders with a section of buyers moving beyond mileage to power in the Discover 150”.

The Pulsar brand of motorcycles from Bajaj alone accounts for a sale of nearly 80,000 units along the length and breadth of the country for the manufacturer.

Mr. Bajaj added, “An upgrade is due by September which is expected to keep the sales momentum going.”

This is the interesting part of the interview. It confirms the fact that the next generation Pulsar is expected to storm the Indian roads soon. News worth rejoicing for all the Pulsar fans! So far, all the upgrades and facelifts for Pulsar had only added to its gorgeousness. We expect the same to be in the case of this yet to be launched as well.

Now, it’s time for us to wait with our fingers crossed till September to see what change Bajaj is all set to bring in the next generation of Pulsar bikes.
