Ather Rizta and 450 range of electric scooters have become cheaper by 30 percent due to the introduction of the BaaS subscription model in the Indian market.
Ather Energy has introduced the Battery as a Service (BaaS) subscription model with the Rizta and 450 range of electric scooters in the Indian market. This has brought down the effective price of Ather Rizta and Ather 450 to Rs 75,999 and Rs 84,341 (Both are ex-showroom, Lucknow), respectively, with the BaaS model. This is something not very new in the case of electric two-wheelers as earlier too we witnessed Hero and Honda introducing their respective e-scooters namely Vida VX2 and Activa e: with the BaaS subscription. In addition, Ather Energy also rolled out an Extended Comprehensive Warranty program and Assured Buyback initiative for a wider range of buyers.
Speaking about the Ather Rizta BaaS model, it reduces the upfront cost of the e-scooter as the customer needs to pay only for the scooter without the battery. It is offering multiple flexible monthly plans for battery usage, which start at as low as Re 1 per kilometer. So, the buyers only pay for the scooter initially while the battery cost is recovered in 3-4 years through the BaaS model, claims the brand.

Launched with a usage-based payment system, Ather 450 range can be purchased with a 48-month BaaS subscription at a price of Re 1 per kilometer for a minimum monthly use of 1000 km. The BaaS model has reduced the upfront cost of the e-scooter by 30 percent. The Bengaluru-based EV startup is also offering buyers free fast charging for a year at Ather’s 3300+ fast chargers across the country
Ravneet S Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy Ltd, said “As the EV segment continues to grow in the country, we see customers with different needs and challenges entering the segment. To unlock the segment’s true potential and accelerate growth, we’ve rolled out a slew of initiatives to cater to the different needs of our potential customers. With BaaS, ECW and Assured Buyback, we aim to address major barriers that exist for customers when purchasing a new EV scooter. As one of the leading players, we stay committed to making it easier for families to experience the benefits of EVs.”

Coming to the Ather Assured Buyback Programme, it was originally started in Feb 2025 as a pilot project for limited customers. However, the company is now extending it to more customers on the basis of the pilot project’s success. For the unversed, the Assured Buyback initiative guarantees a buyer up to 60 percent of the electric scooter’s value at the end of 3 years. Further, the existing owners can also avail up to 50 percent of scooter value after 4 years, subject to km run.
Last but not the least, the Extended Comprehensive Warranty (ECW) covers some of the most critical components of the Rizta as well 450 range of electric scooters such as motor, motor controller, dashboard, charger, and many more for up to 5 years or 60,000 kilometers (whichever is earlier). It also gives protection against the manufacturing defects of the battery. The ECW is available for all the AtherStack Pro customers.
