Ather Partner With Magenta ChargeGrid to Further Strengthen Their Charging Network

Ather Energy partnership with Magenta will give the company access to premium charging locations… Targets key cities of India…

Ather Energy have announced another alliance, this time with Magenta ChargeGrid, to further expand & strengthen their charging network in India. 

Ather Energy and Magenta ChargeGrid have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under which Magenta will install and manage Ather Grid Fast Chargers under their ChargeGrid platform.

Mumbai based Magenta have been working on developing ‘Made in India’ EV solutions suitable for Indian weather conditions since 2018. Magenta ChargeGrid is providing integrated solutions to develop a robust EV ecosystem under their three business verticals – Magenta ChargeGrid (chargers as a product), ChargeGrid (charging as a service) & eMobility (EVET).

Ather and Magenta claim that their new partnership is first of its kind where integrated charging for two-wheelers, three-wheelers and four-wheelers will be offered at a single location. With this, Ather aims to accelerate the pace of expansion of public charging networks and play their part to encourage rapid adoption of EVs in the country. 

Speaking on the partnership, Mr. Nilay Chandra (VP-Charging Infrastructure and Marketing, Ather Energy) said – 

“We understand that the growth and expansion of reliable charging infrastructure is critical to facilitate the adoption of EVs in India. The charging infrastructure category is fast evolving, and we understand that collaboration with other charge point operators at this stage will help the industry grow at an exponential scale”. 

He further added –

“Our partnership with Magenta is another step towards building this industry collaboration. It will bring increased convenience by setting up AtherGrids at hubs strategically identified by them. We will continue to lead the shaping of this industry with strategic partnerships on locations, connector standard collaborations, and working with the government on policy formulation.”

Ather explained that this partnership will facilitate the company to access premium locations across Tier-I, Tier-II & Tier-III cities and highways across India. Magenta ChargeGrid  is currently expanding their charging network to 35-40 cities in the country with an aim to set up 11,000 chargers by the end of FY23. 

Currently, Ather Energy have expanded their dealership footprint across 31 key cities with 36 established stores. They shared their ambition of increasing the annual production of electric scooter to 1 Million units, from 4 Lakh, by the end of 2022, develop new products and increase the retail network to 600 stores.
