The more feature-loaded Konarc Z will arrive next year with 125 km and 161 km range options, sitting above the S series
Ather has only just launched the Konarc, but the company has already revealed what’s next for its new family scooter. The Konarc Z series is scheduled to arrive in Q2 2027, with two versions offering claimed IDC ranges of 125 km and 161 km. Unlike the currently available Konarc S range, the Z is expected to bring a higher level of equipment and technology.
Like the Konarc S, the Z series uses a 14-inch front wheel, 90mm of front suspension travel and 100mm at the rear, while its 1,352mm wheelbase is the longest in Ather’s scooter range. The idea is clearly to make the new generation of Ather scooters more comfortable on typical Indian roads, where potholes and broken surfaces are hardly in short supply.
Ather has confirmed that the Konarc Z will be available in 125 km and 161 km IDC versions, although the battery capacities, motor specifications and prices have not yet been announced. For comparison, the equivalent Konarc S versions use 2.7 kWh and 3.5 kWh batteries, produce 4.7 kW of peak power and 16 Nm, and have claimed IDC ranges of 125 km and 161 km respectively.
The Konarc Z will also get a 31-litre boot, a 450 W onboard charger and support for Ather Grid fast charging. Ather says the scooter can add up to 15 km of range in 10 minutes at compatible charging points on select variants.
The biggest difference is likely to be the equipment list. Ather has positioned the Z as the higher-spec line, although it hasn’t yet revealed the complete feature package. Expect it to build on the Konarc’s existing technology, which includes connected features, navigation, riding modes and Ather’s software ecosystem. The company is also offering features such as MagicKey, which allows easier access to the boot, and its new braking system on the Konarc.
Pricing will be the final piece of the puzzle. The Konarc S currently starts at Rs 99,999, with the S 125 and S 161 priced at Rs 1.21 lakh and Rs 1.45 lakh respectively, ex-showroom Bengaluru. Ather has not announced the Z prices yet, but it will naturally sit above the corresponding S variants.
There is also another interesting bit in Ather’s roadmap. The company plans to introduce a Konarc S with a claimed 200 km IDC range in Q3 2027, meaning the EL platform will eventually cover a fairly wide range of price and battery configurations.
