Ather Energy is all set to launch a new mass-market family electric scooter on Aug 29, 2026 in the Indian market. Previewing the EL01 concept, which was unveiled last year at the Annual Community Day, it will be the most affordable model from the brand with prices likely to fall in the bracket of Rs 1-1.25 lakh (ex-showroom). Recently, the company christened the upcoming low-cost electric scooter as ‘Konarc’ as it goes on sale in the coming days. In the piece, we will talk in detail about the top 5 things of Ather Konarc.
Ather Konarc Platform
The Konarc will be based on the all-new EL platform, which was showcased at the 2025 Ather Community Day. The Bengaluru-based pure EV brand had stated that the EL platform will spawn several new models of various body types which will include a maxi-scooter, family scooter and high-performance scooter. The Konarc will be the first model to use the new versatile platform.
Ather Konarc Design
Unlike the sharper and angular styling of the 450 series, Ather Konarc will be rolled out with a conventional design which is best suited for family electric scooters. The recently released teaser video confirmed that the upcoming Ather affordable e-scooter will get a handlebar-mounted LED headlamp with a broad LED daytime running light (DRL) strip on the front apron.
Ather Konarc Wheels, Motor & Braking System
The Konarc will ride on 14-inch front and 12-inch rear alloy wheels. The stopping power will come from front disc and rear drum brakes. It will come with a swingarm-mounted electric motor, which is generally considered the best for ride quality as compared to the hub-mounted motor. The 450 series is offered with a mid-mounted motor and belt-drive system.
Ather Konarc Features
Ather Konarc will be the first company model to get the Advanced Electronic Braking System (AEBS) and an onboard charger, termed as Ather Charge Drive Controller. Running on the latest AtherStack 7.0, it will come with voice commands as standard. The design patent hinted at the inclusion of a 7-inch instrument console with TFT display and connected features.
Ather Konarc Battery & Range
The battery pack and range details are not in public domain yet. However, as stated by the brand earlier, the EL platform is compatible with multiple battery packs of 2 kWh to 5 kWh. The Rizta and 450 series come with three battery options in the form of 2.7 kWh, 2.9 kWh and 3.5 kWh. Hence, we can expect any of the battery options mentioned before to be at the helm of the Konarc.
