The upcoming Ather mass-market electric scooter has been teased on X (formerly Twitter) by Tarun Mehta, Co-founder & CEO, Ather Energy
Ather Energy will launch the EL01 electric scooter on Aug 29, 2026 in the Indian market. The same has been confirmed by Tarun Mehta, Co-founder & CEO, Ather Energy in a post on micro-blogging website X (formerly Twitter). In fact, Mehta has also teased the upcoming Ather mass-market scooter by posting a picture of it from the brand’s production line. Ather Energy will celebrate its Annual Community Day in Bengaluru on Aug 29 with the theme of “A New Dawn of Magic” where the EL01 will make its first public appearance.
“This 29th August, at Ather Community Day, we’ll be launching our mass-market scooter built on our brand new scooter platform. We have been patiently investing in the building blocks of what makes a good scooter for years now. Pioneering a lot of architectures and tech. Sometimes ahead of time, sometimes packaged as an early adopter thing,” wrote Tarun Mehta, Co-founder & CEO, Ather Energy, on X.
The all-new EL platform was showcased at the 2025 Ather Community Day along with the prototype of the EL01 low-cost electric scooter based on this platform. The Bengaluru-based pure EV brand had stated that the EL platform will spawn several new models of various body types which will include a maxi-scooter, family scooter and high-performance scooter.

Despite being a low-cost mass-market electric scooter, Ather EL01 will not be priced below Rs 1 lakh, confirmed Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy, a few months back. He further went on to add that it will be priced lower than the current portfolio which has models like the Rizta and 450. In Dec 2025, Ather Energy filed the design patent for the EL01 electric scooter.
Ather EL01 mass-market electric scooter is likely to ride on 14-inch front and 12-inch rear alloy wheels. It will come with a swingarm-mounted electric motor. The e-scooter will boast of a big LED DRL and LED tail-lamp cluster. Ather EL01 will be the first company model to get the Advanced Electronic Braking System (AEBS) and an onboard charger, termed as Ather Charge Drive Controller.

Running on the latest AtherStack 7.0, Ather EL01 will come with voice commands as standard. The design patent hinted at the inclusion of a 7-inch instrument console with TFT display. A couple of months back, the upcoming Ather EL01 electric scooter was spotted testing for the first time on the Indian roads. The battery pack and range details are not in public domain yet.
