It will directly rival Hero Xoom 160, Yamaha Aerox 155, TVS Ntorq 150, and the upcoming Honda ADV160 in the maxi-scooter segment in India
The maxi-styled scooters have been getting a lot of popularity from the last few months in the Indian market. Currently, models like Hero Xoom 160, Yamaha Aerox 155 and TVS Ntorq 150 are already on sale in this segment while Honda is all set to launch the ADV160 during the Diwali festive season later this year. However, ahead of that, it has been learnt that Aprilia SXR 175 is ready to hit the Indian roads as early as next month, i.e. September 2026. The brand already retails the SR 175 hp.e in India with the same engine.
While the SR 175 hp.e is a sporty scooter, the SXR 175 is a maxi-styled scooter. However, both the models are powered by the same 174.7cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine which delivers top power of 13 bhp and peak torque of 14.1 Nm. It will be the only maxi-scooter in the segment to come with a air-cooled engine as all three rival scooters are offered with a liquid-cooled unit.
Flaunting a step-through styling, Aprilia SXR 175 comes with a flat floorboard unlike the central-spine seen in all the other maxi-scooters in the segment. The overall design will be on the similar lines as the SXR 160 and SXR 125 with typical maxi-scooter elements. We can expect an identical front fairing with a large windscreen as standard fitments.
The SXR 175 will also boast of a Superbike-like LED headlamp integrated into the front apron. A few other notable elements will include single-piece stepped seat, superbike-inspired LED tail-lamp cluster, pillion grab rail, side-slung exhaust pipe, and flowing side body panels. It will ride on 12-inch alloy wheels. However, the Xoom 160, ADV 160 and Aerox 155 come with a 14-inch wheel setup.
Aprilia SXR 175 will have an underseat storage capacity of around 20-25 litres. In terms of features, the maxi-scooter could borrow the 5-inch fully coloured TFT instrument cluster from the SR 175 with bells and whistles like Bluetooth Smartphone connectivity and Turn-by-turn navigation. For those asking, Yamaha Aerox 155 and Hero Xoom 160 are not available with a TFT unit.
The scooter will also come with front disc brake and single-channel ABS. The suspension duties will be helmed by telescopic front forks and adjustable rear unit. The maxi-scooter will also be rolled out with a USB charging socket. Aprilia SXR 175 price could be in the ballpark of Rs 1.40-1.50 lakh (ex-showroom) in the Indian market. It will be the brand’s flagship model in the maxi-scooter segment.
