Aprilia RS440 launch date in India could be very soon – probably within this month. It will be unveiled on the 7th September…
Like others, Aprilia has also shown interest in the Indian market. In fact, we have heard the MD repeatedly saying that a smaller capacity motorcycle is under works. The Italian brand went onto showcase the RS150 and Tuono 150 at one of the Auto Expos and then there were speculations of a 250 as well.
However, these single cylinder motorcycles appear to have been ditched for some internal reasons but we finally have a small Aprilia – which could be called as RS440 based on the company’s standard nomenclature. The touted Aprilia RS440 has officially been teased by the company on its social media with an unveiling date of 7th September. It is also expected to be showcased at the Indian round of the MotoGP championship later this month (September 22-24th).
The silhouette appears to show an out and out sporty motorcycle and we hope to see a lot of Aprilia-ism in a small format. Expected to sport a near 440cc, twin cylinder engine, the RS440 will pick up a fight against the Ninja 400 and in a way against the single cylinder RC390 as well.

We have already had the bigger sibling Aprilia RS660 in India at an astronomical price tag of over 13 Lakh but that was because it was a CBU. The smaller Aprilia RS440 will cost a lot lesser since it will be made in India. However, by lesser do not expect a sub 4 Lakh price tag; the baby Italian could come it between Rs 4-5 Lakh ex-showroom.
So, if you have grown over single cylinder motorcycles and are looking for relatively affordable multi-cylinder motorcycle from an established maker, brace up for something very interesting…
