Apollo Tyres are one of the leading manufacturers of tyres globally. Apollo has unmatched skills both technical and otherwise to produce best quality products. Their efforts to produce quality tyres were recognized at the Economic Times India Manufacturing Excellence Awards 2010. The event recognized Apollo tyres as the company that follows best in class manufacturing practices. These awards are the initiative of Economic times (the largest read financial daily) and Frost & Sullivan (the global consulting firm) to recognize the best companies in manufacturing fields.
The awards are meant to recognize the companies with best manufacturing facilities. Moreover, Apollo’s manufacturing facility in Limda; Gujarat won the gold award for process sector.
This award is given to the best practices in process sector and only one process plant will be selected for such an award.
On the contrary, Apollo’s Associate Company, Classic Auto Tubes Ltd (Maharashtra) received a gold certificate of merit for its unmatched manufacturing capabilities. Classic Auto Tubes solely manufactures tubes for Apollo tyres.
Mr. Satish Agarwal, Chief of Corporate manufacturing stated that the company was receiving Gold certificate of merit doe past three years and the next year they are eying on the Platinum Award ( the highest recognized award). He further added that the company has already identified the areas of improvement and will design controls to achieve efficiency in those areas.
The factors behind Limda plant winning the Gold award is because the plant was showing excellent performances with regard to inventory management, asset care, quality systems, innovation adaptation, supply chain, layout and material handling. The company is on cloud nine after receiving the award for best manufacturing practices. These awards are surely going to help company to appraise their performances even further and reach greater heights in future.
