All-New Royal Enfield Scram 440 Breaks Cover at Motoverse 2024

The Scram 440, equipped with a new engine and updated features, is expected to go on sale from Jan 2025 in the Indian market

Royal Enfield Scram 440 has finally been unveiled at the Motoverse 2024 in Goa. Being the better and upgraded version of the Scram 411, it gets a bigger and more powerful engine at the helm. The Scram 440 price will be announced in January when the deliveries of the new motorcycle start in the Indian market. Royal Enfield has claimed that the Scram 440 overcomes most of the issues noticed with the Scram 411 while offering a lot more than it.

The Scram 440 measures 2165mm in length, 840mm in width and 1170mm in height while having a wheelbase of 1460mm. It has a ground clearance of 840mm. The saddle height is tipped at 795mm. The bike has a dry weight of 187 kg with a fuel tank capacity of 15 litres. It can be availed with both wire-spoke tube wheels and alloy tubeless units. Royal Enfield has equipped the Scram 440 with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear tyres.

The Scram 440 flaunts a round LED headlamp upfront, while the tail-lamp cluster also boasts of a LED unit. The neo-retro appeal of the motorcycle is kept intact with several of the Scram 411’s styling elements retained. The single-piece seat and dual-channel ABS with switchable option for rear are standard features. The Scram 440 also gets a semi-digital instrument console with the navigation tripper pod as optional.

The Scram 440 is powered by a new 443cc single-cylinder air-cooled LS440 petrol engine which is developed from the Scram 411’s engine by increasing the bore length to 3mm. The long-stroke motor now returns 4.5 percent more power and 6.5 more torque as compared to the 411cc engine of the Scram 411. It churns out maximum power of 25.4 bhp at 6250 rpm and peak torque of 34 Nm at 4000 rpm.

The engine is linked to a new 6-speed transmission to reduce vibrations during highway cruising and improve mileage. Royal Enfield has also equipped the Scram 440 with a new pull type clutch to enhance durability. In fact, the lever effort has witnessed a reduction by 0.75 kg.

Based on the half-duplex split cradle frame, the Scram 440 comes with 41mm telescopic forks at front with travel of 190mm. At the rear, there is a mono-shock unit with linkage and 180mm wheel travel. The braking duties are performed by a 300mm hydraulic disc unit at front with twin-piston floating caliper. The rear features a 240mm hydraulic disc brake with a single piston floating caliper.
