India-Made Moto Guzzi Trip 500 Revealed, Gets Aprilia 457-Based Engine

The new 500-class roadster marks a major shift for Moto Guzzi, with a parallel-twin engine and retro-modern styling

Moto Guzzi has unveiled The Trip, a new middleweight roadster that marks a significant departure from the Italian brand’s traditional motorcycle formula. The motorcycle gets a parallel-twin engine instead of the longitudinal V-twin layout that Moto Guzzi is known for.

It is also reported to be manufactured in India at Piaggio’s Baramati facility, which already produces the Aprilia RS 457 and Tuono 457. While Moto Guzzi calls it a 500 roadster, the engine is believed to be based on Aprilia’s 457 cc parallel-twin platform. The manufacturer has confirmed an output of almost 48 hp, with most of the torque available at lower engine speeds. The exact displacement and torque figures are yet to be officially disclosed.

The Trip gets a clean roadster design with a sculpted metal fuel tank, a round LED headlamp featuring the Moto Guzzi eagle motif and a blacked-out engine. The motorcycle also gets gold-finished USD front forks, a rear monoshock and alloy wheels. The fuel tank has a 15-litre capacity, while the seat height stands at 790 mm.

The motorcycle weighs 180 kg in running order, which should make it relatively accessible for a middleweight roadster. Moto Guzzi has also given it a circular 3.6-inch TFT instrument console with smartphone connectivity, along with backlit switchgear.

The parallel-twin engine is paired with a ride-by-wire throttle and three riding modes: Road, Sport and Rain. Integrated pictogram navigation and a quickshifter will be available as accessories. The overall package appears aimed at riders looking for an approachable roadster with modern electronics, rather than an outright performance-focused motorcycle.

The Trip will be offered in three colour options: Black Metropolis, Green Grove and Red Beat. There will also be a special launch edition called The Opening. Moto Guzzi will showcase The Trip at EICMA 2026 in Milan, scheduled from November 5 to 8.

The motorcycle is expected to reach European dealerships in early 2027. Pricing has not yet been announced. Its reported Indian manufacturing connection makes the motorcycle particularly interesting for the domestic market.

However, Moto Guzzi has not confirmed an India launch so far. If introduced here, the Trip could give Indian buyers access to another distinctive European middleweight roadster, while also marking a new chapter for the brand’s product strategy.
