SMK Helmets has launched the Ares dual-sport helmet in India. First showcased at India Bike Week, the Ares is now available in three versions: Solid, Claw and Infinity. Prices start at Rs. 6,950 for the Solid variant, while the two graphic versions cost Rs. 7,250 (MRP, inclusive of taxes).
The Ares Solid comes in six single-tone colours, including gloss and matte black, white, Nardo Grey, titanium, and Desert Storm tan. The Ares Claw gets angular graphics in six colour options, while the Ares Infinity features a different design with sweeping diagonal patterns. Both graphic versions are available in gloss and matte finishes, taking the total number of colour options across the range to 18.
The SMK Ares gets a dual-sport layout, with a detachable peak for off-road riding, a main visor for road use and an integrated sun visor. The main visor features a one-touch quick-release mechanism and a scratch-resistant finish. It also offers an extra-wide field of vision.
One of the key additions for the Indian market is the Pinlock 70 lens, which comes fitted as standard. This is particularly useful for riders undertaking longer journeys in conditions where visor fogging can be an issue.
The helmet uses an EIRT (Energy Impact Resistant Thermoplastic) outer shell with a multi-density EPS liner. It meets ECE 22.06, DOT and ISI certification standards. SMK also uses two different shell sizes to ensure better proportions across the size range, rather than relying on additional padding within a single shell design.
Other features include emergency quick-release cheek pads, a removable and washable inner liner, moisture-wicking and antistatic fabric, and grooves for riders who wear glasses. The chin vent gets an internal switch, allowing riders to operate it without reaching around a chin-mounted action camera.
The helmet is available with either a double D-ring or a stainless steel quick-release buckle. It also gets a removable wind protector, breath deflector, nose deflector and speaker pockets. The Ares weighs 1,575g in sizes XS to M and 1,625g in sizes L to XXL, with a tolerance of 50g. It is available in sizes XS to XXL through SMK’s authorised dealer network.
