The naked streetfighter will be the second model to use the brand’s 420cc engine platform after the F 450 GS
BMW Motorrad has released the first teaser of the upcoming F 450 R on its various social media platforms. The naked streetfighter will be the second model to use the brand’s 420cc engine platform. Just so you know, the first motorcycle based on the aforementioned platform is the F 450 GS which went on sale a few months back in the Indian market. BMW F 450 R will have its keenly-awaited world premiere on Oct 1, 2026 and needless to mention, it will be locally manufactured in India at TVS factory while exported to various European countries.
Going by the teaser image, we can confidently state that the upcoming BMW F 450 R will come with an aggressive and sporty design. It will flaunt a muscular fuel tank with sharp extensions. The raised rear profile compliments the overall styling of the naked motorcycle. We can also notice an underbelly exhaust in the teaser image shared by the brand.
Apparently, the underpinnings are reworked and we assume the F 450 R riding on 17-inch front and rear alloy wheels. The company will fit road-biased tyres in the 17-inch rims. The stopping power is likely to come with disc units at both the ends. The naked bike is expected to borrow the 6.5-inch TFT display from the F 450 GS with multicontroller which gets ‘Pure Ride Screen’ and ‘Sport Screen’ displays.
Some of the notable features likely to be offered with the F 450 R are Multiple Ride Modes (Rain, Road, Enduro and Enduro Pro), Wheelie control, Rear wheel ABS, ABS Pro, Dynamic Brake Control, Dynamic Traction Control and Engine Drag Torque Control. It might also get the first-in-segment Easy Ride Clutch (ERC) along with Shift Assistant Pro to ensure seamless upshifts and downshifts.
The USB-C socket, heated grips and adjustable hand levers could also be offered in the range-topping variant. At the heart, it will house the same 420cc twin-cylinder inline engine as the F 450 GS. The top power of 47 bhp at 8750 rpm and highest torque of 43 Nm at 6750 rpm are likely to remain unchanged with the F 450 R. The engine will be linked to a 6-speed gearbox.
BMW F 450 R will directly rival Aprilia Tuono 457 and KTM 390 Duke R in the Indian market. The prices could start from Rs 4.50 lakh for the base variant and go as high as Rs 5 lakh for the range-topping variant. Both the prices mentioned before are ex-showroom. For reference, BMW F 450 GS is presently priced between Rs 4.95-5.60 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.
