Bajaj Chetak EV was the highest-selling electric scooter while the combined sales of TVS iQube and Orbiter surpassed 57k units in August 2026
The electric two-wheeler industry posted sales of 1,87,214 units in August 2026 with a staggering YoY growth of 126 percent as 76,118 units were retailed during the same month last year. TVS Motor Company continued to lead the segment with 57,523 units last month, followed by Bajaj Auto at the second position with 52,248 units. However, in terms of model-wise sales, the Chetak EV from Bajaj occupied the first position while TVS iQube bagged the second position. Bajaj Chetak became the top-selling electric scooter in Aug 2026 as sales touched 52,248 units with a YoY growth of 273 percent. The company was able to retail only 14,014 units of the e-scooter during the same month last year due to production restraints caused by the global shortage of rare earth magnets. It had to suspend production at the Chakan facility for a few days due to the unavailablity of rare earth magnets, which are sourced from China.
TVS iQube sales grew from 24,434 units in Aug 2025 to 42,882 units in Aug 2026 at a YoY rate of 76 percent. The company’s entry-level electric scooter, the Orbiter, recorded retail volumes of 14,641 units last month as it became India’s fifth best-selling model. Hero Vida range of electric scooters (V2 and VX2) clocked combined sales of 25,558 units in August 2026 with a YoY growth of 108 percent as compared to 12,273 units in Aug 2025.

Ather Rizta was the country’s fourth top-selling e-scooter with volumes of 22,586 units in Aug 2025. It registered a decent double-digit growth of 30 percent as 17,344 units were retailed in Aug 2025. Ampere Magnus electric scooter was at the sixth position with 9,772 units and 98 percent YoY growth. Ather 450 occupied the seventh position with 6,891 units.
River Indie sales surged from 2,229 units in August 2025 to 6,567 units in August 2026 at a YoY growth rate of 195 percent. It was followed by Ampere Reo with 1,911 units as compared to 514 units in Aug 2025 with a sensational triple-digit YoY growth of 272 percent. Honda QC1 was ranked tenth with sales of 1,902 units while Ampere Nexus bagged the eleventh spot with 756 units in Aug 2026.
Suzuki e-Access has also started to get sales momentum gradually as Aug 2026 volumes touched 668 units. Similarly, yet another electric scooter from a Japanese brand, i.e. Yamaha EC-06 clocked 475 units last month. The recently launched Ather Konarc sales was at 217 units in Aug 2026. Last but not the least, Honda Activa e: posted sales of 140 units last month as compared to 20 units in Aug 2025.
