Bajaj Chetak registered a sensational triple-digit YoY growth in Aug 2026 as sales surpassed 50k units and it occupied the fourth position
The combined sales of top 10 scooters in August 2026 stood at 7,11,435 units with a healthy YoY growth of 21 percent as the top 10 models had accounted for retail volumes of 5,89,483 units in August 2025. Honda Activa continued as the undisputed leader of the segment with a market share of around 30 percent. On the other hand, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Hero Vida and Ather Rizta are the four all-electric models in the list. Not a single scooter in the sales list reported YoY decline in sales volumes in Aug 2026.
Starting with the Activa, it recorded sales of over 2.55 lakh units in August 2026 as compared to around 2.44 lakh units during the same month last year. The sales grew by 5 percent on a YoY basis. The second position was occupied by TVS Jupiter with retail volumes of over 1.47 lakh units last month against 1.42 lakh units in August 2025 with a YoY growth of 4 percent. Similar to the Activa, the Jupiter is available with 110cc and 125 engine options.
The third position was secured by Suzuki Access with 69,558 units in August 2026 against 60,807 units sold during the same month last year. The YoY sales volumes surged by 14 percent. The fourth position was grabbed by Bajaj Chetak electric scooter with sales of 52,248 units in August 2026 as it continued to lead the e2w segment. It witnessed an exceptional rise in YoY volumes by 273 percent as 14,014 units were sold in August 2025.

It was followed by yet another electric scooter in the form of TVS iQube at the fifth position with sales of 42,882 units in August 2026. The e-scooter witnessed a healthy increase in YoY sales by 76 percent. So, as we can see, among the top 5 scooters in August 2026, there are two all-electric models. The Chetak raced past the iQube to become the best-selling electric two-wheeler in India.
The sixth position was held by Ntorq 125 with sales of 40,256 units last month as compared to 30,355 units in August 2025 with a YoY growth of 33 percent. Hero Destini 125 was at the seventh position as sales increased from 19,383 units in Aug 2025 to 29,737 units in Aug 2026. Vida, Hero’s electric mobility brand, occupied the eighth position with 25,558 units in Aug 2026 against 12,273 units sold during the same month last year with an overwhelming YoY growth of 108 percent.
Suzuki Burgman was pushed to the ninth position with sales of 25,345 units in August 2026. It reported a marginal YoY growth of 5 percent as 24,191 units were sold in Aug 2025. Yamaha RayZR was ousted from the list of top 10 scooters in Aug 2026 by Ather Rizta as it grabbed the tenth and eventual position with sales of 22,586 units in August 2026 with a decent YoY growth of 30 percent as 17,344 units were retailed in August 2025.
