Ather Konarc Electric Scooter to Get Metal Body Panels, New Teaser Out

The Konarc is going to be the second electric scooter in the segment after Bajaj Chetak to get metal body panels

Ather Konarc electric scooter is all set to launch on Aug 29, 2026 at the brand’s Annual Community Day in Bengaluru. However, ahead of the launch, the company has released a new teaser video of the upcoming mass-market family scooter which confirms that it will be introduced with metal body panels. In the video posted on X (formerly Twitter) by Tarun Mehta, CEO & Co-founder, Ather Energy, we can see him playing with magnets and sticking them on the body panels of the Konarc electric scooter. However, it is still not confirmed whether the entire body will be of metal or just side body panels.

In the electric scooter segment, Bajaj Chetak is the only model to come with metal body panels. Usually, the manufacturers refrain from using metal as they fear it will result in excessive weight which subsequently affects the riding behavior and acceleration. Hence, majority of the e-scooters are offered with fibre body panels for ease of use and maneuverability.

On the contrary, metal body is a symbol of durability and solidity. For reference, India’s highest-selling scooter till date, Honda Activa, is retailed with metallic body panels and hence, it is the first choice for the customers due to reliability and optimum build quality. Therefore, it appears that Ather Energy is attempting to repeat Honda’s story with the launch of Konarc.

It will be rolled out with multiple battery packs which will return IDC ranges of 100 km, 125 km, 160 km, and 200 km.

Ather Energy had earlier stated that the EL platform of the Konarc electric scooter is compatible with multiple battery packs of 2 kWh to 5 kWh. Hence, with such four diverse range choices between 100 km to 200 km, it will cover most of the e-scooter segment. The report further adds that Ather Konarc will be retailed with a built-in 450W charger, termed as Ather Charge Drive Controller.
