Hero Xoom 160 VX, being the base trim, is likely to miss out on Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and Smart key features of the ZX grade
Hero MotoCorp is readying a new base and affordable variant of the Xoom 160 maxi-scooter for the Indian market. Presently, it is listed on the company website with a ‘ZX’ suffix, which is usually reserved for the range-topping variants in the Xoom family, which has the likes of Xoom 110 and Xoom 125. Hence, this hints at the arrival of a new affordable ‘VX’ variant of the maxi-scooter in the coming weeks in our country. Hero Xoom 160 went on sale in Sep 2025 in a single fully-loaded variant at a sticker price of Rs 1.48 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Retailed through the premium network of Hero Premia dealerships across the country, the Xoom 160 comes packed with multiple advanced features in the form of Smart key with remote seat access, Front disc brake with ABS, and Bluetooth-enabled digital speedometer with Turn-by-Turn navigation. The VX variant might miss out on some of these bells and whistles.
The Xoom 160 VX could be rolled out with a CBS (Combi Braking System) as standard in place of the single-channel ABS seen in the ZX grade. The Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation and Smart key features are likely to be omitted from the upcoming Hero Xoom 160 base variant, as it will be presented as a highly affordable model in the maxi-scooter line-up.
Riding on 14-inch alloy wheels with block pattern tyres, Hero Xoom 160 flaunts dual-chamber LED headlamps and a big windscreen upfront. The riders can also install a touring box for extra luggage, which is available as an after-market accessory. It is offered in four colour options namely Matte Rainforest Green, Canyon Red, Summit White and Matte Volcanic Grey.
Mechanically, Hero Xoom 160 is powered by a 156cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled petrol engine which develops top power of 14.6 bhp at 8000 rpm and peak torque of 14 Nm at 6500 rpm. The engine gets Hero’s i3s silent start technology while equipped with a CVT gearbox and dry clutch. The suspension duties are handled by telescopic front forks and dual shock absorbers at the rear.
The Xoom 160 has a decent ground clearance of 155 mm while the saddle height stands at 787 mm. Tipping the weighing scale at 142 kg, it is nearly 25 kg heavier than the Ntorq 150. It has a fuel tank capacity of 7 litres as compared to the Ntorq 150’s 5.8 litres. Hero Xoom 160 VX affordable variant could be priced around Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom), which is around Rs 18,000 less than the top-end XZ trim.
