Vespa has unveiled a one-of-its-kind special edition of the Primavera 125 scooter in Europe. However, this is not the breaking news but the flabbergasting price tag of EUR 12,000 (approx Rs 13.2 lakh) that it commands. This exorbitant price tag makes it one of the most expensive scooters across the globe. Usually, we do not see ICE-powered scooters in the 125cc segment rolled out with such a high price, especially in the Indian market. In the hindsight, Vespa Primavera 125 special edition sales will only be restricted to European nations.
Developed in partnership with Gigi, the Primavera 125 special edition comes as a luxury lifestyle scooter. For reference, Gigi is an Italian restaurant group associated with opulence and leisure while based in high-end locations such as Saint-Tropez, Paris, Rome, Miami, and Dubai. We believe that the Primavera 125 special edition has been created for the VVIP clientele of Gigi.
Finished in a bright yellow paint shade, Vespa Primavera 125 special edition oozes exclusivity from every angle. It flaunts chrome and cognac-coloured accents which are flanked by an ivory leather seat with contrasting stitching and piping. The 5-spoke alloy wheels also carry an Ivory finish, making it an artwork of true bespoke craftsmanship.
The scooter gets a chrome front luggage rack with leather straps while the rear end also houses a wicker picnic basket which is mounted on the chrome rear rack. Since this is a special edition, developed exclusively for select upscale individuals, a couple of units of the scooter will be displayed the Gigi restaurant in Saint-Tropez during the Summer of 2026.
Mechanically, the special edition remains unchanged as it is powered by the same 124cc single-cylinder air-cooled i-Get petrol engine which produces maximum power of 11 bhp at 8000 rpm and peak torque of 11 Nm at 6250 rpm. Equipped with electronic fuel injection, it gets a CVT automatic unit linked to a dry clutch. The engine complies with the latest Euro 5+ emission norms.
Riding on 12-inch wheels, the Primavera 125 special edition comes fitted with tubeless tyres. The stopping power comes from disc brakes at both the ends, which are assisted by a single-channel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). The scooter has a fuel tank capacity of 8 litres while the saddle height is pegged at 785 mm. It can be pre-booked online at Vespa’s website.
