Bajaj Auto and Suzuki Motorcycle India are reportedly working on new versions of their best-selling Pulsar and Gixxer models
The 150-160 cc motorcycle segment is one of the most important segments for any two wheeler brand selling a product in this space. Bajaj and Suzuki realise the same and are set to update their best selling products, the Pulsar and Gixxer respectively. The timing is also apt as the festive season is just a couple of months away.
For Bajaj, the Pulsar brand is vital to their domestic motorcycle business. The classic Pulsar has been updated with new features and colours from time to time. However, it has been a while since it got a complete overhaul. Expect the new Pulsar to get sharper styling, a new chassis, and updated engines to meet future emission standards. Bajaj may also include more connected features and improved rider aids across the lineup.
Suzuki too is preparing a new Gixxer range. Despite rising competition from models like the TVS Apache RTR series, Bajaj Pulsar, and Yamaha FZ, the Gixxer has remained one of Suzuki’s top-selling motorcycles in India. The design and look of the Gixxer is now starting to show its age and we need a fresh look for the Gixxer. We could get better styling inspired from the bigger Gixxers sold globally. Both the street naked and the sporty faired Gixxer SF will get an update.

Both OEMs will also equip their bikes with the latest tech. TFT displays, smartphone connectivity, navigation support, and better safety features are becoming standard, even in the premium commuter segment. Indian customers are becoming more demanding and want more value. Adding these extra features to the commuter segment will give sales a boost.
The engines too might get updates to adapt to higher ethanol blending. Suzuki already has a Gixxer Flex Fuel variant that supports E85 blended fuel. Bajaj too will play catch up and bring in products which will support at least E30 or E35 ethanol blends.

While neither Bajaj nor Suzuki has confirmed launch dates, developing the next-generation Pulsar and Gixxer indicates that both brands are gearing up for the next phase of competition. A launch during the festive season is likely, as sales usually peak at this time of year. Given the popularity of these motorcycles, their introduction will attract attention from enthusiasts and everyday riders looking for modern, feature-rich options.
