The electric two-wheeler share entered double digits for the first time at 10.60 percent in June 2026 against 7.34 percent a year ago in June 2025
The two-wheeler industry registered sales of 18,28,458 units in June 2026 with a YoY growth of 21.22 percent against 15,08,378 units sold during the same month last year, as per the vehicle retail data released by Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA). The electric two-wheeler share entered double digits for the first time at 10.60 percent in June 2026 against 7.34 percent a year ago in June 2025.
The EV market share in total two-wheelers sales stood at 9.25 percent in May 2026. However, in June 2026, it increased even more and touched the double digits for the the first time at 10.60 percent. The rise in the sales of electric two-wheelers is primarily due to the continuous hike in petrol prices over the last few months while the state subsidies also play a major role in this.
“Urban two-wheeler sales grew by 4.25 percent on a MoM basis while rural volumes declined by 4.55 percent MoM, reflecting the late onset and uneven progress of the south-west monsoon, which kept rain-fed markets in a wait-and-watch mode. Dealers nonetheless reported strong entry-level demand, improved OEM supplies after the West Asia ceasefire, and a decisive powertrain shift,” said FADA in the official statement.
