Recently, Honda patented the design of the ADV160 maxi-scooter in India, leading to speculations that the company is ready to enter the high-performance scooter segment to rival Yamaha Aerox 155 and Hero Xoom 160. Honda ADV160 shares the 157cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled petrol engine with the Airblade (patented earlier in India), albeit with higher power and torque figures of 16 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 14.7 Nm at 6,500 rpm, respectively.

The Airblade maxi-scooter, equipped with the same 157cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled petrol engine, has top power of 15 bhp and peak torque of 14.8 Nm. The maxi-scooter has a claimed mileage of 44.8 kmpl in international markets. Hence, the maxi-scooter can run for around 200 km on a full tank without the need of refueling. It also comes with a 125cc engine but that’s irrelevant for the Indian market as Honda already retails Activa and Dio in this segment.
