Suzuki Burgman 150cc Maxi Scooter Debuts – Details

The Burgman 150cc is positioned between the Burgman 125 and Burgman 200 in the family of maxi-scooters

Suzuki recently launched the new-gen Burgman 125 in a price range of Rs 1.02-1.13 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. Now, the Japanese brand has unveiled the Burgman 150 in the Colombian market. It carries forward the iconic styling DNA of the Burgman family, which has models like the Burgman 200 and Burgman 400. The maxi-scooter is not expected to go on sale in the Indian market anytime soon. However, as we know, the domestic market in India is filled with multiple such models in the form of Yamaha Aerox 155, Hero Xoom 160 and TVS Ntorq 150.

The overall design of the Burgman 150, though, is a major departure from the India-spec Burgman 125. The front apron is bigger in size as it flaunts the split LED headlamp setup, inverted horseshoe-shaped DRL, and turn indicators. As we have seen lately with maxi-scooters, Suzuki Burgman 150 also boasts of a long central spine which houses the 8 litres fuel tank. The underseat storage capacity stands at 25 litres.

A few other notable design highlights include LED tail-lamp cluster, single-piece seat and pronounced pillion step. The suspension duties are helmed by telescopic front forks and dual-shock rear absorbers. The stopping power is supplied by front disc and rear drum brakes. Tipping the weighing scale at 145 kg, it has a saddle height of 760 mm.

Riding on 14-inch front and rear alloy wheels as compared to the 12-inch wheel setup of India-bound Burgman 125, Suzuki Burgman 150 comes equipped with multiple advanced features in the form of Keyless go system, Switchable traction control, Single-channel ABS, Type-C USB charging port, and a fully digital instrument console with TFT screen.

The riders have access to connected tech and turn-by-turn navigation via Bluetooth connectivity through Smartphone. At the heart, the Burgman Street 150 has the 149cc single-cylinder air-cooled petrol engine which generates top power of 14.2 bhp at 8500 rpm and highest torque of 14.2 Nm at 6500 rpm. The power and torque figures have gone up by 5.8 bhp and 4 Nm, respectively, as compared to the India-spec Burgman 125.

Though at the first glance, Suzuki Burgman 150 looks a promising maxi-scooter, it might still not make its way in the Indian market. The primary reason behind this is that the scooter segment is majorly dominated by 110-125cc models. The 150cc plus high-performance segment is still in the initial stages and hasn’t found as many takers.
